Police: Albany man shot to death

  • Police say a fatal Sunday shooting occured following a street fight.

ALBANY – An Albany man was gunned down outside of a home on Rosedale Avenue, authorities said.

Police say that the body of 19-year-old Timothy Warren Murray, Jr., was found lying in the front yard at 903 Rosedale Avenue.

The victim of an apparent shooting, police are still searching for suspects who they say may be driving a silver in color sport utility vehicle and a silver-colored four door car, Albany Police Media Manager Phyllis Banks said.

Police believe the shooting occurred around 4:42 p.m. Sunday afternoon after a fight erupted in the street, Banks said.

Two months ago, a jury found Murray not guilty of aggravated assault charges after prosecutors charged that he was involved in a gang-related shooting earlier in the year.

Murray had been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of possession of firearm during the commission of a crime and for participation in a street gang stemming from the February shooting of James Hall, court documents show.

Murray, who the prosecution had accused of being a member of the Crips street gang, was acquitted of the all of the charges on Sept. 13, court documents show.
