Authorities: Albany woman stabbed in face

  • Police believe a stabbing stems from an earlier argument that escalated to violence.

ALBANY — An Albany woman is recovering at a hospital after being stabbed multiple times — including in her face — during a confrontation Tuesday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., police responded to the 900 block of Rosedale Avenue in reference to a stabbing.

Linda Lawrence, 44, of Albany, was stabbed multiple times while she was inside her home, APD spokesperson Phyllis Banks said. Despite her condition, Lawrence was able to walk to a neighbor’s house and call for police.

A second woman, 43-year-old Victoria Hancock, was placed into custody but was taken to a local hospital for a pre-existing medical condition, Banks said.

“The investigators believe that this all started from an argument between the victim and the suspect,” Banks said. “The topic of the argument isn’t clear.”

Charges are expected to be filed once Hancock is out of the hospital, Banks said.
