Shooting victim's wound 'minor'

  • An Albany shooting victim received a minor leg wound, police officials say.

ALBANY — An 18-year-old has confessed his involvement in an Albany shooting, police officials said.

Jonterria Seay, 18, of Albany surrendered to police Monday. Albany Police spokesperson Phyllis Banks said that during Seay's interview with police, he confessed to shooting 18-year-old Enorris Holley Saturday.

According to police reports, Holley was shot after he was confronted by Seay and a black male known only as "Posse," on the 200 block of Mitchell Avenue.

When Posse asked him what he had said about his mother, Holley walked away from both men when he told police he heard a loud bang and felt a burning sensation in his leg, police reports show.

Seay and Posse fled the scene. Holley was taken to phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment of the wound, the report shows.

Banks said Tuesday that Seay surrendered to police around 7 p.m. Monday.

"Seay was taken to the Dougherty County Jail and has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime," Banks said.

Banks said that Posse is not being sought in connection with the shooting.

"The detectives don't believe he had anything to do with the shooting. He just happened to be there when it happened," Banks said.
