APD: Burglary ring busted

  • At least one person was detained by police at the scene where authorities served a search warrant Friday.

ALBANY — Police aren’t saying much about the items they confiscated Friday afternoon from a house on North Jackson Street, but one burglary victim says he’s happy to get at least some of his stolen property back.

Jackie Sizemore said he’s grateful to the Albany Police Department for continuing to work on his burglary case months after it happened.

“It’s a good day,” Sizemore said Friday after retrieving a fishing rod valued at $1,000 from detectives. “I really didn’t expect to get it back.”

Sizemore said that several months ago someone stole a number items from his home, including the high-end fishing rod.

Police wouldn’t say what all they discovered when they served a search warrant at 706 North Jackson St. Nor would they identify the person they placed in the back of a squad car at the scene.

But around midday Friday, detectives with the APD searched, videotaped, collected and photographed items inside the home and in a wooded area just behind it.

Also called to the scene was a representative of Erickson Company, which had recently reported a burglary to police officials.

“I thought it was all gone and forgotten about,” Sizemore said. “I like getting these kinds of phone calls.”

APD Spokesperson Phyllis Banks said it could be Monday before details about the investigation are released.
