Marion Black Cooling

LEESBURG — Mrs. Marion Black Cooling, 88, of Leesburg, GA, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA.

A Memorial Eucharist will be held Monday 1:00PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The Very Reverend Mark Jones and the Revs. Wallace Marsh, Francis Daunt, and Jim Purks will be officiating. The Rev. Norm Yukers will read Lesson’s.

A native of Caldwell, Idaho, Mrs. Cooling lived in Albany most of her life, where she served in Lee County School Systems as a Teacher’s Aide for 15 years. Her first love was her church family at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the King. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl E. Cooling; a brother Casey Black, and a sister Louise Brown.

Survivors include two sons, Ed Cooling and his wife Leslie of Hamilton, GA and John Cooling and his wife Tricia of Forsyth, GA; six grandchildren, Bill Cooling and his wife Becky, Kimberly Houck and her husband Aaron, Bill and Kimberly’s mother Penny Pace, John Marc Cooling and his wife Amanda, Matthew Cooling and his wife Amber, Brad Sheffield and his wife Laura, Thurston Sheffield and his wife Linda; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Parish Hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 212 N. Jefferson St. Albany, GA 31701 or a charity of your choice.

Willie Benjamin Daniels

ALBANY — Willie Benjamin Daniels, 69, of Newton Rd., died Monday, March 31, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 7 in Floral Memory Garden Cemetery. The Rev. Eugene Smith officiate.

Born on September 20, 1938 in Lee County, GA, Mr. Daniels was a retired auto mechanic and of the Baptist faith. He was a 1958 graduate of Monroe High School and a member of the 26 Club and was president of Monroe High School Class of 1958.

Survivors include his wife, Yolanda Daniels of Westland, MI; three daughters, Carmaleta Smith (Eugene) of Detroit, MI, LaJuana Daniels Woods (Maurice) of Albany and Curleisha Daniels of Westland, MI; five sons, Wendell Daniels, and Willie B. Daniels III, both of Detroit, MI, Ickeo Daniels (Pamela) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Odolph Daniels (Dezelda) of Romulas, MI; one son preceded him in death, Stephen Daniels; his mother, Azzie Lee Daniels of Albany; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Seth Ryan Davis

ALBANY — The funeral service of Seth Ryan Davis, 25, of Albany, GA. who died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital will be conducted Monday April 7, 2008 at Mathews Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Lynwood Davis and the Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Dougherty Co., GA., Mr. Davis had resided in Garner, NC, for eight years before returning to Albany. He was employed at Sellers Tile Company and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his parents, Steve and Sharon B. Davis of Garner, NC, a brother and his fianc{‘e}e Steve Davis and Courtney Moreland both of Lee Co., GA. and grandmother, Ann D. Davis, Albany, GA.

The family headquarters is at Coney Lake Lodge, 364 Coney Lake Rd., Leesburg, GA. and will receive friends today (Sunday) from 3 to 5 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

ALBANY — Roy L. McCarthan, 77, of 816 Oak Circle Dr., Bainbridge, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Grady General Hospital in Cairo.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery, in Bainbridge. The Revs. David Gosha and Pastor, the Rev. Edmond Howard officiating.

Born on June 2, 1930 in Montgomery, AL, Mr. McCarthan was a retired mechanic. He graduated from H.T. Singleton High School in Edison. He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the Deacon Board, choir member, secretary and treasure.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Gibson (Johnny) and Helen Davis (Leroy), both of Albany; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from noon until the funeral hour.
