Kathleen Mize DuPree
ALBANY The memorial service for Kathleen Mize DuPree, 81, of Albany, who
died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Palmyra Nursing Home, will be conducted
Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Carroll will
officiate.
A native of Bowdon, Georgia, Kathleen attended West Georgia College and
graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Georgia, with a
Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and a Minor in Chemistry.
Mrs. DuPree and her husband, Stan, moved to Albany in 1957. Together they
served their community for over 40 years as owners of DuPree Drugs. Stan and
Kathleen were lifetime members of Sherwood Baptist Church, where she taught
Sunday School for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley M. DuPree of Albany, GA; a son and
his wife, Keith and Theresa DuPree of Lee County; two daughters and their
husbands, Claire and Randy Pierce of Rome, GA and Timna and Billy Benson of
Conway, SC; a sister, and her husband, Charlotte and Don Carroll of Anniston,
AL; 11 grandchildren, John Yarbrough, Kap Yarbrough, Ashley Crowder (Todd),
Maggie Muschara (Wes), Jennifer Goode (Paul), Ashley Everett (David), Kip
DuPree, Matt DuPree (Lydia), Katie Coffee (Chad), Marty Benson and Katie
Benson; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Henry Ford
SYLVESTER Henry Ford, 83, of Leesburg, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at his
residence in Leesburg.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Red Oak Baptist
Church, in Doles, GA, with the interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Worth County on March 26, 1925, to the late William Robert Madison
Ford and Lillie Pearl Howard Ford. Mr. Ford served in the Army during World
War II, retired from Merts Equipment Company after a career in service and
sales. He later operated Crossroads Grocery with his wife in Worth County for
many years. He was member of Philema Road Baptist Church in Leesburg.
Mr. Ford is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Annie Monroe Ford; two
sons, Henry I. Ford of Leesburg and Gregory M. Ford of Marietta; four
grandchildren, Stephanie Grace Ford of Leesburg, Gregory Seth Ford of
Columbia, SC, Heather Monroe Ford of Marietta and Matthew Hamilton Hanger of
Canton, GA; one sister, Hazel Bolton of Leesburg; one brother, J.O. Ford of
Albany.
The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Banks
Funeral Home in Sylvester.

Kathryn W. Gunnels
ALBANY Mrs. Kathryn W. Gunnels died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Palmyra
Nursing Home.
Her funeral service will be Monday (today), 2 PM at Crown Hill Cemetery.
The Rev. Tom Newman officiating.
A native of Jefferson, GA, Mrs. Gunnels owned and operated along with her
husband, P. W. Gunnels, Coachman Park Food Center until 1980. She graduated
from Doerun High School and was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Diane Gunnels, of Albany; and nephews,
Max Ladson, of Albany, Donald Ladson, of Moultrie, and Lonnie Ladson, of
Alabama.
The family will receive friends Monday (today) 1 to 1:45 PM at
Kimbrell-Stern.

James L. Johnson
ALBANY James L. Hoss Johnson, 79, of 2007 Waddell Avenue, Albany, GA,
died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
The Rev. Charlie Brown and Sam Hartline will officiate. Interment will follow
in Floral Memory Gardens.
A native of Albany, born to Dewey Hobson Johnson and Nettie Mae Moody
Johnson, Mr. Johnson graduated Salutatorian from Pavo High School.
Immediately after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy where he was assigned to
The USS Lindenwald and served four years. When he completed his military
service, Mr. Johnson returned to Albany and was employed as a brick mason
until his health forced him to retire in 1980. He was the widower of Venalyn
Eubanks Johnson.
He was a lifetime member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and was a member of
and long time club manager of Albany Moose Lodge {pound} 1285 where he was a member
of the Fellowship Degree. Mr. Johnson was a life member of The Albany Bowling
Association and spent several years coaching youth bowling, youth basketball
and midget football. He was also a member of The Southwest Georgia Exchange
Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Emily Coleen Johnson, Leslie Johnson
Pollock and her husband, Wayne, and Jocelyn (Jo) Johnson all of Albany; two
brothers, Aulton Spud Johnson and his wife, Ruth of Albany and Bill Phillips
of Ormond Beach, FL; a sister, Trudy Phillips of Lawrenceville, GA; a
brother-in-law and his wife, Merrill and Hazel Eubanks of Albany; a
sister-in-law and long time caregiver, Mary Johnson of Sylvester; four
grandchildren, Lindsey Johnson, Brandon Pollock and Wesley Pollock, all of
Albany and Anna Pollock Higgs and her husband, John of Baconton; and several
cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Lindsey Johnson and a brother,
Curtis Johnson.

ALBANY Anna Barbara Moore, 69, of Calhoun County, GA, died Saturday, April
12, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements to be

Tyler Liston Thomlinson
ALBANY Mr. Tyler Liston Thomlinson, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
His funeral service will be Tuesday 1 p.m. at Radium Springs Baptist Church,
with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Carl Dunn will officiate.
A native of Key West, FL, Mr. Thomlinson had lived in Albany and graduated
from Dougherty High School in 1976 but had resided in Mitchell County for the
past 23 years and was employed with Proctor and Gamble for the last 29 years.
He was a member of Radium Springs Baptist Church, were he was a deacon and a
member of the Young Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Thomlinson loved his
family and restoring cars. He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia
McClam Thomlinson, brothers, Timothy Thomlinson and Judson Thomlinson.
Survivors include his wife Dale Dee Thomlinson, of Mitchell County; sons,
Sam Thomlinson and Christopher Thomlinson; and a daughter Anna Lee Thomlinson
all of Mitchell County; brother, Christopher Thomlinson, of Suches, GA.
