Savilla Belle Betton

ALBANY — Savilla Belle Betton, 87, of Leesburg, GA, was called Home Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Palmyra Medical Center.

Her family will receive friends at the chapel of Mathews Funeral Home one hour before the 11:00 A.M. services on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Arlington, GA.

Mrs. Betton was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lizzy, a devoted husband, Henry, a sister Ella Mae, a brother, Manny and a sister Julina.

Survivors include her children: Beth, Dot, Belita, Olivia and Jimmy, her grandchildren: Steven, Dawn and Jay; Tammy and Cherie; Beverly, Sylvia and Rodney; Jodie and Jamie; Patty; great-grandchildren: Luke, Courtney, Kelly and Courtney; Sage and Reilly; Victoria and Mike; Jarrett; Alexandria, Amelia, Isabella; Beth, Dillon; Ryan, Austin, Ashley and Andrew; Brandon; great-great-grandchildren: Wesley and soon to be Natalie; a sister Waunita, a sister- in-law, Mary and many nieces and nephews, good friends and neighbors.

The family will be at the Cook residence, 142 Cannon Drive, Leesburg, GA 31763.

Robert L. Davis

ALBANY — Robert (Bob) L. Davis, 89, of Albany, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

Mr. Davis was born in Murphy, North Carolina on Christmas Day in 1918. He ranched and played professional baseball in Jerome, Idaho as a young man. He and his wife, Mae, moved to Georgia in 1948 where he farmed and later worked and retired from Pritchett Ford as Service Manager. He was a veteran of the US Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife Mae; two sons: Mark Davis and his wife Carol, Albany, Ted Davis, Leesburg; two daughters: Cherry Rizer and her husband Todd, Albany, Katrine Behland and her husband Art, Valdosta; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.

A private memorial service is planned for the family.

ALBANY — Arthur Graddy, Jr., 62, of 620 Barstow Rd. died Monday, April 21, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 3 P.M. today at Gethesemane Worship Center with burial in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.

Ulysses Harris

ALBANY — Ulysses Harris, 61, of 11011 Rising Mist Blvd., Tampa, FL formerly of Worth Co. died April 14, 2008 at Sun City Hospice Center in Ruskin, FL. Funeral services will be Saturday 12 Noon at Ft. Early Baptist Church, HWY. 300, Warwick with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Donnie Ray Hall will officiate.

Mr. Harris attended Worth co. Public Schools and he was a retired production worker for Coca Cola Company in Tampa, FL. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include one sister, Veronica Lewis of Albany and one brother James Harris (Betty) of Macon and several nieces and nephews.

The family of Mr. Harris will receive friends and relatives at the home of his sister, Veronica Lewis at 1325 Montego Ct., Albany.

The remains of Mr. Harris will be in the church on Saturday morning from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Rebe R. Nix

ALBANY — Rebe R. Nix, 92, of Leesburg, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Lee County Health Care.

The funeral service will be held at 3 PM Saturday at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with interment to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Ronnie Bush will officiate.

A native of Colquitt, GA, Mrs. Nix was a former resident of Raybon Ct. in Albany and lived in Leesburg for the past 10 years. She was a member of Raleigh White Baptist Church. Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by her husband, W. Henry Nix and a grandson, Joey Ritchie Nix.

Mrs. Nix is survived by two sons, Jim Nix and his wife Ann of Leesburg, and Joe Nix and his wife Judy of Albany; a brother, W.J. West, Jr. of Cobb; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 3 PM Saturday at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors and will be at the residences of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nix 163 Walnut St., Leesburg, GA 31763 and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nix 1910 Devon Dr., Albany, GA 31707.

Jeffery Louis Range

ALBANY — Jeffery Louis Range, 56, of 102 Westcott Lane, Albany died April 21, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday 3 P.M. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, HWY. 195 North, Leesburg with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Sterling Calhoun, Pastor will officiate.

Mr. Range was born September 1, 1951 in Albany and was a 1969 Graduate of Monroe High School and attended Albany Technical College. He retired from Proctor and Gamble Paper Products Company and was the owner of J.R. Financial Tax Service here in Albany.He was a member of the choir at Shady Grove Baptist Church and a former member of the Masonic Lidge.

Survivors include one son, Terrance Range (Valerie) of Albany and one daughter, Tanzanika Range of Albany, his mother, Mrs. Mattie Mae Range of Albany, three brothers, Mr. Timothy Range (Lorene) of Albany, Jessie Lee Range, Jr. (Gussie) of Sylvester and Mr. Ezekiel Range (Sue) of Meadville, PA, two sisters, Cynthia Mitchell of Atlanta and Cassandra Willis (Keith) of Albany.

The family of Mr. Range will receive friends and relatives at the home of his mother, Mrs. Mattie Mae range of 429 Alice Ave., Albany. The remains of Mr. Range will be in the church Saturday Evening from 2:30 P.M. until the funeral hour.

SYLVESTER — Elmore Rhodes, 86, of 944 West St., Sylvester, died April 22, 2008 at Phoebe Medical Center of natural causes. Beulah Mae Davis Thomas

ALBANY — Beulah Mae Davis Thomas, 51, of 118 West Loomis St., Thomasville died April 19, 2008 at her home. Funeral services will be Saturday 11 A.M. at St. Mary Church, 101 Swift St., Albany with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Derrick Mack, Pastor will officiate..

Mrs. Thomas was a graduate of Merritt Island High School in Cocoa, FL. She was a member of St. Mary Baptist Church.

Survivors include, Tameka Green (Cedrick) of Albany, her parents, Vera Gammage Vickerson of Albany and Willie C. Davis, Sr. of Belleglade, FL, two sisters, Betty Bradford (Jessie) of Warner Robins and Tonya Thomas (Harry) of Albany, two brothers, Willie C. Davis, Jr of Forrestville, MD and Rodney Davis (Regina) of Blakely, three grandchildren, Kelcie Green, Kuntae Green and Keyonate all of Albany.

Walter B. Thomas, Sr.

SYLVESTER — Mr. Walter B. Thomas, Sr. of 929 West St., Sylvester died April 22, 2008 at his daughter’s residence, 929 Nelms Rd., Putney. Funeral services will be Saturday, 1 P.M. at New Mt. Holder Baptist Church, Albany with interment in Shepard Memorial Garden, Sylvester. Rev. Dr. Johnny L. Gardner, Pastor will officiate.

Mr. Thomas was educated in the Worth Co. Public School System, he worked as a laborer with the railroad company. He was a member of New Mt. Holder Baptist Church, Albany, where he served on the Deacon Board.

Survivors include, eleven daughters, Bertha King, Mallory, Ella Linkhorn, both of Albany, Carol W. Collin James Wilson

ALBANY — Collin James Wilson, 93, of 620 Mercer Ave. died April 20, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11 A.M. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with interment in Roselawn. Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 7-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilson was born December 23, 1914 in Dougherty Co. He was educate din the Doughtery Co. Public School System and attended Georgia Normal (ASU), a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the Senior Choir and Birthmonth Ministry.

Survivors include a son, Collin James Wilson, Jr., two sisters, Evelyn Blaylock and Geneva Bryant, one brother, Edgar (Lenora) Wilson; two granddaughters, Collyne (Robert) Partee and Collette (Ronald) Pointer, a great granddaughter, Cameron Partee, a great grandson, Collin Partee, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
