Marvin Lester Cook

SHELLMAN — Marvin Lester Cook, 65, of Leesburg, died April 25, 2008, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 2 P.M. from the Shellman Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Gary Stutz officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery in Shellman.

Mr. Cook was born September 17, 1942, in Arlington, son of Ella Whatley Cook and the late Robert Edward Cook. He was a retired mechanic with the US Civil Service at the US Marine Base in Albany, and a member of the Shellman Assembly of God church.

Survivors include his wife; Carol Gilmer Cook of Leesburg; his mother, Ella Whatley Cook of Shellman; two sons, Robert “Bob” Cook and William “Bill” Cook both of Leesburg; two daughters, Angelia C. Harper, and Melissa C. Terry, both of Leesburg, a sister, Margeret Gurthie of Shellman; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Myrtle Allen Williams

BLAKELY — Myrtle Allen Williams, 87, of 148 Oklahoma St., Blakely died April 24, 2008 at Hernando Pasco Hospice in Brooksville, FL. Graveside service will be Saturday 3 P.M. at Blakely Cemetery. cliff Starr and Rev. Jim Burgess will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2-3 P.M.

Mrs. Williams was born July 5, 1920 in Early Co. to the late John Wesley Allen and Georgia Brownlee Allen. She was a retired manager from the Safeway Stores, bookkeeper for Wynne’s Dept. Store and Felder Furniture Co. She was a member of Westview United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Julius Coy Williams, a sister, Fannie Alice Bryan and brothers, Charles Allen and Curtis Allen.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Merlyn Williams Johnson and husband, Norman, Linda Allen Brubaker and husband, Manuel, June Allen Merritt, Judith Allen McCormick and husband, Jim, John Allen, Janet Allen Dickerson and husband, Ken, Brenda Bryan Williams and husband James and Jimmy Bryan.
