Johnnie E. Akins

ROCHELLE — Johnnie E. Akins, 63, of 9445 Hwy. 215 S., Abbeville, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at his residence.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. today (Sunday) in Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle.

Mr. Akins was born December 5, 1944 in Pulaski County. He had lived in Wilcox County since 1988 moving from Mitchell County. He was son of the late Arthur Akins and Maggie Scarborough Akins. He was a truck driver and mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. He served his country with honor in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Judy B. Akins of Abbeville; son, Billy Hall of Cordele; daughters, Renee Walker, Donna Robinson and Jill Giles, all of Clayton, Connie Jones of Poulan, Penney Adkinson of Abbeville, Judy Lynn Washington of Tallahassee, FL, Laura Moyer of Tifton, and Angel Washington of Marietta; and 19 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.

Mavis W. Campbell

COLQUITT — Mavis W. Campbell, of Columbus, GA, formerly of Damascus, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at Columbus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Damascus Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Cross Roads Cemetery in Damascus. The Revs. William I. Long and William D. Wood officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Campbell was retired retail sales with JCPenney Co. and a member of Damascus Baptist Church. She also worked at Southwest Georgia Academy in Damascus for 10 years.

Survivors include three sons, Bobby J. (Linda) Campbell, Melvin Wayne (Paula) Campbell and Larry James (Bette) Campbell, all of Columbus; a daughter, Linda C. Hendricks of Atlanta; three brothers, William D. (Eleanor) Wood of Lake City, FL, Harold (Maxine) Wood of Victorica, TX, and Freddie Rogers of Damascus; two sisters, Bobbie Glass of Colquitt, and Cheryl (George) Mathis of Apalachacola, FL; and 12 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin James Campbell.

Frank C. Davis

PELHAM — Frank C. Davis, 67, of Pelham, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at East Pelham Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Grady County, GA. The Rev. Herman Hampton officiating.

Pallbearers are James Davis, Steve Sadler, Ricky Creech, Lopez Jackson, Harry Plymel and Jimmy Creech.

Born on October 14, 1940 in Polk County, FL, Mr. Davis was a carpenter and painter. He was a member of East Pelham Baptist Church and also a member of Pelham Mason Lodge No. 312. He was the son of the late James Irvin and Minnie Drew Locke Davis.

Survivors include his wife, June Holley Davis of Pelham; son and daughter-in-law, Danny Davis and Claire of Macon; daughter and son-in-law, Janet Adams and Joe of Pelham; grandson, Justin Adams of Pelham; brothers, Emmett Davis of Cotton, GA, Russell Davis of Jasper, GA, Eugene Davis of Pelham, and Phillip Morey of Ochlocknee; sisters, Sabrina Holt of Ochlocknee, Lefaie Bryant of Moultrie, Thelma Pettyjohn of Moultrie, and Vira Brown of Marianna, FL.

In addition of Mr. Davis parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Davis.

Visitation will be held today (Sunday) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home, Pelham.

MOULTRIE — Ethel Mae Rouse Hose, 83, of Adel, died Friday, April 25, 2008. Graveside funeral services will be held today (Sunday) at 2 p.m. at the Adel Cemetery in Adel, burial will follow immediately after service.
