Zelma Carter Adams

ALBANY —The funeral service of Zelma Carter Adams of Americus, formerly of Albany, who died April 29, 2008 at Magnolia Manor, will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Gaines and Dr. Wm. Butch Knight will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A native of Grady County, GA, born to John S. and Bessie Darus Carter, Mrs. Adams moved to Albany from Cairo and lived there all of her adult life. She was a 1938 graduate of Cairo High School and married her late husband of sixty four years, Leon Willard Adams, Sr., in 1939.

She was a homemaker and a member of The First Baptist Church of Albany. Mrs. Adams was a past president and devoted member of The Federated Garden Club of Albany, a member of the Georgia Power Ambassador’s Club and the Sowega Good Sam Club. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Leon Willard Adams, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Keith Norton of Albany, two grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Robert Boney of Leesburg and James and Melissa Goodin of Albany, two brothers and their wives, Fred W. and Bobbie Carter of Albany and Charles D. and Mary Carter of Brentwood, TN and four grandchildren, Robert James Boney, Olivia Christine Boney, Parker William Goodin and Davis Matthew Goodin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. today at Mathews Funeral Home.

The family is at the residence of Paula and Keith Norton, 2701 Wilton Ct., Albany, GA. 31721.

Lloyd Boyce

ALBANY — Mr. Lloyd Boyce 81, of Gail Ave. in Albany died April 29, 2008 at his residence.

The funeral service will be Saturday 2 PM at Blythe Baptist Church Cemetery in Blythe, GA. Dr. Richard Dendler officiating.

A native of Port Huron, MI, Mr. Boyce has lived in Albany since 1957 where he was a member of First United Methodist Church and was retired from the Marine Corp. Logistics Base Repair Division with 20 years of service. Mr. Boyce served in the United States Army during World War II and Korea.

Survivors include his wife Alice Boyce of Albany, sons, Jeffery G. Boyce and his wife Linda of Raymore, Missouri and David L. Boyce and his wife Cindy of Snellville, GA, daughter, Allyson B. Washburn and her husband Fred of Albany, GA, grandchildren, Jonathan Boyce, Chancey Washburn and his wife Moriah, Ashley Washburn, Nicholaus Boyce and his wife Ashley, Michael Boyce and Carrie Jo Boyce, great-grandchild, Calvin Washburn, sisters, Patricia Zimmerman of Albuquerque, NM and Rose White of Albuquerque, NM, brother, Joseph Stanislowski his wife Laurie of Mulberry, FL.

Mr. Boyce will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather.

Karen F. Dickerson

ALBANY — Karen F. Dickerson, 52, of Perry, FL. died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11 A.M. in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Kimball Cemetery in Anderson City. the family will be at the home of Jack and Charlotte Stone at 1805 Hancock Rd. and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M. today.

Mary Lois Salter Greene

ALBANY — Mary Lois Salter Greene, 82, of Albany, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Dawson Manor.

The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday at Kimbrell- Stern Funeral Directors with interment to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Myers will officiate.

A native of Hahira, Mrs. Greene had lived in Albany for the past 53 years. She was a member of Avalon United Methodist Church. Mrs. Greene retired from MacGregor Golf Company after 40 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Greene, who died in April of 2005.

Mrs. Greene is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Marie DeMarco and her husband Joe of Canton, and Patricia Linda McEver and her husband Doug of Gainesville; three grandchildren, Shannon Marie DeMarco, James Matthew McEver and his wife Cindy, and Jennifer Marie Evans and her husband Anthony; and three great-grandchildren.

Alveria Cuffie Rhodes

SYLVESTER — Alveria Cuffie Rhodes, 57, of 1900 N. Maple St., Albany died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, May 2, 2008 2 P.M. at Davis Grove Baptist Church, Sylvester with interment in Shepard Memorial Garden. Rev. Calvin James, Pastor will officiate.

Alveria was born March 1, 1951, in Worth Co. she was educated in the Worth Co. Public School System and graduated from J.w. Holley High School. She received a certificate in Business Management from the Riley Institute, Albany. She worked as a housekeeper and was a member of Davis Grove Baptist Church, Sylvester.

Survivors include, three daughters, Yatesha Rhodes Miller, Albany, Nakesha Rhodes, Sylvester, and Tabou Rhodes Borden, Tifton, seven sisters, Dorothy Cuffie Smith, Atlanta, Laverne Cuffie Williams, Sharon Cuffie, both of Sylvester, Beverly Cuffie, Jacqueline Cuffie Gladen, both of Duluth, Abigail Cuffie Rhodes, Decatur, Karen Cuffie Paul, Buford, four brothers, Sam Cuffie, Toledo, OH, Thomas Cuffie, Atlanta, John Cuffie, Conyers, Cedric Cuffie, Folkston, mother, Jimmie Lou Cuffie, Sylvester and five grands.

Betty Ann Williams

ALBANY — Mrs. Betty Ann Williams, 67, of 1417 West Lincoln Ave., died April 25, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Friday 2 P.M. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Tremaine Hill and Pastor Bishop Nathan Paige will officiate.

Mrs. Williams was born December 12, 1940 in Albany. She was a graduate of Monroe High School, was a retired custodian for Dougherty Co. Board of Education and was a member of Victorious Life Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna D. Williams of Albany and three sons, Willie Williams, Jr., Leo Williams and Tommy Williams (Eddwiner) all of Albany and three grandchildren, Ceda Williams, Jerroma Williams, and Valerie Wilson.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the home of her grandson, Jerome Williams of 121 Mosseydale Lane, Albany.

The remains of Ms. Williams will be in the church Friday evening from 1 P.M. until the funeral hour.
