Calvin Warren Getz

Calvin Warren Getz, 71, of Albany, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at his residence following an illness.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors and the family will receive friends following the service. A Sea Burial is planned for a later date.

A native of Emporia, KA, Mr. Getz was a retired veteran of the United States Navy and a retired State Probation Supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Hoffer Getz of Albany; his son, Warren Thomas, of the USS Oscar Austin Destroyer; his daughter, Billie Kay Getz Miller and her husband, Robyn of Bartlett, TN; his granddaughter, Kristin Kay Martin; his grandson, John Steven Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

Madge McGinnis Rouse

SYLVESTER – Madge McGinnis Rouse, 90, of Albany, formerly of Ashburn, died Saturday, May 3, 1008 at her daughter's residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pastor Rodney Brown and Bill Hardin officiating.

Born in Sasser, IL, on February 28, 1918, Mrs. Rouse was the daughter of the late Jesse W. McGinnis and Nellie Aire Patterson McGinnis and widow of Samuel Custer Rouse Jr., who died November 26, 1995. She was a retired Turner County Librarian after 5 years. She has lived in Dougherty County since 2002, moving from Turner County, where she had lived since 1946. She enjoyed reading, cooking and needlework. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashburn, and former member of the Rose Garden Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon R. Bailey of Albany; grandchildren, Jessica B. Bearden and her husband, Chris, and Robin Bailey, all of Albany; great-grandson, Griffin Samuel Bearden; and a brother, J. Milton McGinnis of Palatine, IL.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, 10 a.m. until service hour of 11 a.m. at Banks Funeral Home.
