Cherry Oliver

ALBANY — Cherry “H” Oliver, 81, of 193 South Depot St., Leary died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at his residence.

The funeral service will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Eureka Baptist Church in Leary with Rev. Willie Moore, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Baker Co., Mr. Oliver was retired from the Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany and was a member of Spring Creek Missionary Baptist Church where in 1955 he was ordained as a Deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ophelia Scott Oliver of Leary; three daughters, Mary Helen Oliver and Nancy Oliver, both of Leary and Veronica Waters of Edison; three sons, David (Pam) Oliver of San Antonio, TX, Charles (Carolyn) Oliver of Arlington and Tareyton (Erica) Oliver of Mobile, AL; two brothers-in-law, Earl (Ruby) Scott of Leary and John (Clara) Crawford of Columbus; one sister-in-law, Fannie (Willard) Smith of Columbus; a cousin, Johnny (Louise) Oliver of Leary; a special devoted son, Willie Gene (Linda) Jackson of Leary; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Ramona Wells

ALBANY — Ramona ”Pee Wee” Wells, 73, of Putney, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at her home following an illness.

Her memorial service will be Wednesday 2 PM at Kimbrell- Stern. The Rev. John Marsh and the Rev. Cathy Green will officiate. Mrs. Wells remains were cremated.

A native and life long resident of the Albany area, she attended schools in Lee County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Putney United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her husband Charles Emmet Wells and a grandson Louis Casey.

She is survived by her three daughters: Dianne Johnson and her husband Jerry, Stockbridge, GA, Debbie Casey and her husband Ted, Albany, Donna Warren and her husband Shawn, Lee County; 3 grandchildren: Jeremy Johnson, South Carolina, Brandon Spence, Albany, Casey Warren, Lee County; 2 great-grandchildren: Jacob Casey and Austin Casey; a brother: Jake Fisher, Putney; 3 sisters: Ann Griffin, Carol Marsh, and Cindy Norton, all of Putney.

The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Tuesday from 6-8 PM.
