Whittington Knight
ALBANY The memorial service of Betty Boyd Whittington Knight, 73, of 189
Creekview Dr., Leesburg, GA, who died Monday May 5, 2008 at her residence,
will be conducted Thursday May 8, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
A native of Seminole Co., GA, Mrs. Knight had resided in Albany before
moving to Leesburg twenty one years ago. She was a homemaker and loved her
home and family. She was of the Methodist Faith and was preceded in death by
her husband, Lenion Robert Knight and a son, Robert David Knight.
Survivors include a companion, Gary Briggs, Leesburg, GA, a son, Johnny
Knight, Leesburg, GA, two daughters, Linda Eubanks and her husband Benny, Lee
Co., GA, Ramona Jo-Eve Knight, Albany, GA, five grandchildren, Jason Eubanks,
James Tucker, Sara Knight, Cory Tucker and Amy Knight.

Leo Joseph Loiselle
ALBANY The Celebration of Life Service for Leo (Lee) Joseph Loiselle, 84,
of 2304 Bristol Road Albany, GA, will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at
Christ United Methodist Church. He died at his home on May 4, 2008. Rev. Kent
Miller and Dr. Marshall Edwards will officiate. A private entombment will
follow the service. Steve Henshaw, Casey Perkins, Charles Proctor, Paul
Summers, Thomas Talley and Mitch Welch will serve as active pallbearers.
A native of Moosup, CT, he was born to John and Exilda Loiselle on December
3, 1923. When his education was completed, Lee served in the U.S. Army, was
honorably discharged in 1949 from Ft. McClelland, AL and settled in Columbus,
GA, where he later took ownership of Columbus Roofing and Insulation Co.
During his years in business, he was a member of the Roofing and Sheet Metal
Contractors Association of Georgia, of which he served two terms as President
(1968-1970).
After retirement from a successful business career, he and his late wife,
Oralla Tompkins Loiselle, spent most of their time at the family farm near
Lumpkin, GA, where he began a second successful career as a farmer. He was a
member of the Georgia Cattlemans Association and the Stewart County Farm
Bureau. He loved farming, hunting, fishing and inviting numerous friends and
family members to enjoy the outdoor beauty of his beloved Pataula Creek Farms.
The following commendation accompanied his being honored as Soil and Water
Conservationist of the Year:
This Testimonial of Honor is being conferred upon Lee Loiselle for his love
of the land, his leadership in the community, for being a good citizen,
farmer, and neighbor and above all, being a good American by using his land
properly and establishing the necessary soil and water conservation practices.
He is maintaining the fertility and increasing the productivity of his farm
for generations to come, in accordance with standards recommended by the Lower
Chattahoochee River Soil and Water Conservation district. The supervisors and
bankers of the district are honored to present this award in recognition of an
important task well performed.
Even more than his love of farming and the outdoors, Lee is best remembered
for his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, the way he served the Lord in His
church and his extraordinary devotion to his family and friends.
He married Sue Pratt Lewis in 1983 and was an adoring and cherished husband
for 25 years. They moved to Albany in 2004, where he was a faithful member of
Christ United Methodist Church, serving on the Trustee Board and in the No
Turning Back Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by three brothers,
George Loiselle and John Loiselle of Central Village, CT and Donald Loisellof
Columbus, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Sue, of Albany, GA, a step-daughter and her
husband, Georgia and Don Crews of Albany, GA, two step-sons and their wives,
Charlie and Kelly Lewis of Columbus, GA and Brooks and Jolee Lewis of
Carrollton,GA, his grandchildren, Ruth Anne, Joshua and John Crews, Mallory,
Victoria, Susannah, Jackson and Carter Lewis, a brother and his wife, Edward
and Laurie Lioselle of Danielson, CT, four sisters, Florence Tyndall and her
husband, Bill, Edna Zercie, Theresa Richmond and Doris Lavallee and her
husband, Louis, all of Central Village, CT.
The family will gratefully receive friends Wednesday (today) from 6:00 P.M.
until 8:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home, 3206 Gillionville Rd., Albany.

DAWSON Mrs. Rebecca Oxford McRee a native of Terrell Co., formerly of
Columbus, died Sunday.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. at the graveside, Thursday, in Cedar
Hill Cemetery.

Lawrence Richardson
ALBANY Mr. Lawrence Richardson, 50, of 211 Cordele Road Lot #19 died
Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside services
will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Greater United Pleasant Green
Baptist Church Cemetery, 1512 Philema Road. The Rev. Andrew McDowell, Pastor
will officiate.
Mr. Richardson attended Tift County Public Schools and worked as a
Landscaper at Albany Landscaping Company. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Hunter-Richardson of Albany, five
daughters, Mr. Christina Richardson, Ms. Gueisa Richardson, Ms Estacaia
Richardson and Ms. Shauntay Johnson all of Albany, and Mrs. Anastasia Burkes
of Easton, Pennsylvania; four brothers, R.C. Richardson (Lawanda) and Willie
Richardson (Rachael) both of Sylvester, Larry Richardson (Teresa) of St.
Petersburg, Fl. and Micheal Richardson of Albany; four sisters Louise Moore
(Lee), Dorothy Watson (LeVon) and Ruthie Lee Richardson all of Saint
Petersburg, Fl., Earlie Mae Davis (Zeb) of Albany, and 10 Grandchildren.

Tom Singleton, Jr.
ALBANY Tom Singleton, Jr, 73, of Clarksville, TN. died Monday, April 26,
2008 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 2, 2008 at Walnut Grove Missionary
Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Livington officiating. Burial was in Kentucky
Veterans Cemetery West Hopkinsville, KY with full military honors.
Mr. Singleton was born January 4, 1935 in Albany, the son of Tom Singleton,
Sr. and Rosebelle Dotson Singleton.
He was a member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served
on the Willing Workers Ministry. He was a retired Mommand sergeant Major in
the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Aquilla Moultrie Singleton; Children, Brenda
Spann, Rose J. Butler and Yancey L. Singleton, all of Clarksville, TN, Thomas
R. Singleton of Tifton and Kenneth X. Singleton of Leesburg, sister, Ethel
Williams of Albany; brothers, Freddie James Singleton and Clifford L.

Orelle Riley Smith
ALBANY Orelle Riley Smith, 92, of Albany, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at
Magnolia Manor in Americus, GA.
Her funeral service will be Thursday 11 AM at Porterfield Memorial United
Methodist Church with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. The Rev.
Nancy Scarbrough, the Rev. Betty Lou Miller, and the Rev. Dr. Donald M. Kea
will officiate.
A native of Dothan, AL, Mrs. Smith had lived in Albany since 1930, moving to
Magnolia Manor in 2004. She was a graduate of Albany High School, Class of
1931. She was a charter member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist
Church, a member of the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class, a Sunday School
teacher for over 50 years, a past president of the UMW, and active with XYZ.
Mrs. Smith worked at Pace Florist for 30 years and was the first PTA president
at Palmyra Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry
Clinton Smith, Jr.
She is survived by her four children: Clinton Smith and his wife Madelyn,
Richmond, VA, Robert Smith and his wife Laura, Albany, Becky Hayes and her
husband Bob, Albany, Alan Smith and his wife Susan, Mableton, GA; 9
grandchildren: Amanda Smith, Durham, NC, B. J. Hayes, Jr., Thomasville, GA,
Jarad Smith, Mableton, GA, Riley Smith, Savannah, John Hayes, Thomasville, GA,
Holli Boggus, McAllister, Montana, Benjamin Smith, Atlanta, Travis Smith,
Mableton, Hudson Smith, Greenville, SC; 3 great grandchildren: McKenzie Hayes,
Avery Hayes, both of Thomasville, James Robert Boggus, McAllister, Montana; a
sister: Christine Cannon, Leesburg.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Wednesday from 6-8 PM.
