Seminole Manor Nursing Home
in Donalsonville.

interment in Friendship Memorial

R.D. Covington, 83, of Camilla
died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at his
residence. Graveside funeral
services will be 11 A.M. Thursday,
May 8 at Oakview Cemetery.
Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate.
The Fellowship Sunday School
Class will serve as honorary
pallbearers.
Born May 21, 1924 in Wilcox
Co., Mr. Covington was the son
of the late James J. and Mary
Lee Ritchey Covington. He
graduated from Wilcox Co. High
School, ABAC College and
University of Georgia. Mr. Covington
played basketball at ABAC and
baseball and basketball at UGA.
He was a veteran of the Army Air
Corps, having served in WWII.
Mr. Covington retired from the
Ga. State Dept. of Agriculture as
District Supervisor. He was a
member of First Baptist Church
of Camilla, where he served as
Sunday School teacher, Sunday
School Superintendent, and
chairman of Deacons, for a
number of years. He was also a
member of the Fellowship
Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife of 60
years, Edwina Roles Covington
of Camilla; a son and daughter-
in-law, Randy and Shelda
Covington of Pelham; a daughter and
son-in-law, Melinda and Leon
Pate of Valdosta; two
grandchildren, Travis Pate and
wife, Alyssa, and Stuart Pate and
wife, Lauren; three great
grandchildren, Anna Pate, Mason
Pate and Eli Pate.

Nichols, Sr., 67 of Abbeville, AL
died May 6, 2008 at his
residence. Graveside funeral
services will be conducted Saturday,
May 10 at 2 P.M. in the New
Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery
near Cuthbert. Rev. Mickey
Skinner will officiate.
Mr. Nichols was born April 14,
1941 in Fulton Co., son of the
late William and Hattie Jane
Reeves Nichols. He was a retired
heavy equipment operator, a
Baptist and was married to the
late Theresa Traci Morgan
Nichols who died April 1, 2008.
Survivors include a son,
Raymond Allen Nichols, Jr. and his
wife, Crystal of McCurtain, OK, a
daughter, Jennifer N. Bertrand
and her husband, Ron of Ft.
Gaines, a brother, Harvey
Nichols of Whitesburg, three sisters,
Frances Walker, Hazel Potts and
Thelma Johnson, all of Newnan,
two grandsons, Logan and Nolan
Bertrand both of Ft. Gaines and
a number of nieces and
nephews.
The family will receive friends,
Friday from 4-8 P.M. at Lunsford
