Politicians forget why they’re elected

We elect those candidates whom we believe will protect our interests. Once in office, some seem to betray our confidence, forget those of us who are paying their accelerating salaries and become loyalists to those who produce little or no income. Artificial communications have almost obliterated our ability to think, substituting propaganda for facts.

I agree with my good friend Dr. Lingle: “You can eliminate a tax, but you can’t eliminate a need.” What about the taxpayers who have urgent needs?

Society seems to overlook the fact that whenever taxes are increased, inflation rises and the cycle continues. Occupants of America are in acute need of a mass attitude adjustment. Why should we be required to spend our time and money defending our innocence?

News media constantly remind us of plans to increase taxes, but I have yet to see information released promoting economy in government. If we are forced to pay excessively high taxes, it is only fair that we be informed on where and when every penny is being spent.

I would like to express my opposition to the selection of an outfit many miles away that could not have any knowledge about property values in Dougherty County to tell us what our property is worth. Having spent most of my life in different phases of real estate and loving it until illness struck me down, I consider it an insult to the property appraisal firms in Albany and Georgia. I would appreciate a public explanation.
