Darton gets into the spring of music

  • An annual free Spring Concert aims to entertain the community.

ALBANY — The Darton College Music Department will be presenting its Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Darton Theater, 2400 Gillionville Road.

The free concert will feature performances by the Darton College vocal ensemble, concert band and jazz ensemble directed by Keith Walker and director of music Jeff Kluball.

There will also be a reception in the lobby where the audience can enjoy light refreshments and meet the performers.

Kluball said the annual Spring Concert is the department’s way of showing appreciation to the community.

“We do it as a service to the public and it’s a good payback for the public to come in,” he said. “It’s a broad spectrum of music all in one evening.

“It really is a good enrichment activity for people in this community and to hear various styles of music being performed,” he added.

Kluball also said the concert has sentimental value for the students in the ensembles.

“It’s the last time the group plays together because some of them will be graduating,” Kluball said.

For more information, call Kluball at (229) 317-6856.
