Mayhaw festival reaches milestone

  • Colquitt’s 25th annual Mayhaw Festival to include special performances and outdoor activities.

COLQUITT — The 25th annual National Mayhaw Festival will return to Colquitt Thursday-Saturday.

Aside from Swamp Gravy’s “May-Haw” performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2:30 and 7:30 Saturday at Cotton Hall, the festival will include a barbecue and bake sale at 10 a.m. Friday on the Square at Spring Creek Recreational Park. There will also be a musical performance by Clutch at 6 p.m. at the same location.

Festival events will continue at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with a 5-kilometer run and 1-mile walk at Colquitt Freewill Baptist Church on Grow Street.

A main Street parade at 10 a.m. will be followed by local entertainment featuring Shane Owens performances at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Vendors will be selling arts, crafts, collectibles and a variety of food. There will also be a variety of attractions and displays for all ages, including a mega slide, rock climb, fun house, spider mountain and pony rides.
