Bainbridge celebrates River Town Days

  • The city’s fifth festival includes new activities.

BAINBRIDGE — The 5th annual River Town Days Festival will be held Friday-Saturday at the Earle May Boat Basin on West Shotwell Street.

The festival will begin with a free concert at 6 p.m. on Friday, featuring the Tams and the Swingin’ Medallions. The Great River Rummage, which will expand to two days this year, will also start Friday and continue through Saturday morning.

Along with the wildlife exhibit from Reed Bingham State Park and various children’s activities, the festival also added a Flint River Raft Race to start at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Roslyn Palmer, publicity chairman for the festival, said she expects there will be more participants this year than last year, if the weather permits.

“There were several thousand at the Swingin’ Medallions and Tams last year,” she said. “If the weather is good, it’s going to be a great turnout.”

She also said the many arts and crafts children can make at the festival can serve several purposes.

“It’s a great way for a kid to make something to give to mom for Mother’s Day.”

Admission is $5 for each child to receive an arm band to participate in unlimited activities. There is no admission for adults.
