Mr. Habitat Pageant returns

  • Saturday's benefit is set to provide funding for projects that will eliminate poverty in Dougherty and Lee counties.

ALBANY — Once again, the Mr. Habitat Pageant is making its way to the Good Life City.

The event will start at 7 p.m. Saturday at Live Oak Elementary School, 4529 Gillionville Road.

Admission is $5 at the door.

Proceeds will be used to help eliminate poverty in Dougherty and Lee counties.

“In the past, the pageant has helped to raise more than $5,000 for the Habitat mission,” states a pageant news release. “This year, we would like to double that amount.”

Organized by the Women Build Committee, the pageant started in 2003.

This year’s event will incorporate the theme “Hunk of Burning Love,” into competitions that include talent, evening wear and beach wear.

“The contestant who raises the most money, including sponsorship before the pageant and during intermission, will be given the People’s Choice Award.

Competitors for the title of Mr. Habitat include such prominent Albanians as Mayor Willie Adams, Don Buie, Gregory Edwards, Kevin Hogencamp, Johnathan Lee Oswalt, Jay Wachs and Michael Windom.
