Comedian makes a return visit to Albany Thursday

  • The Albany Symphony Orchestra will present comedian Jim Gosset.

ALBANY — Comedian Jim Gossett returns to the Good Life City this week to join the Albany Symphony Orchestra for “A Funny Side of Symphony with Comedian Jim Gossett.”

The event, which includes an evening of cocktails, comedy and dinner, is set for Thursday night at the State Theatre, 313 Pine Ave.

Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m.. The dinner and performance start at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for dinner and performance are $35, while general admission just for the performance is $15.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Albany Symphony Orchestra.

Gossett is a nationally known comedian, impressionist and humorist who has opened for such celebrities as Paul Anka, Barbara Mandrell, Jay Leno, Crystal Gayle, Louise Mandrell and Frankie Valli.

“He also appears regularly in comedy clubs and college campuses across the country,” an event news release states.

Gossett last visited Albany in February 2007 to perform at the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting.

There, he impersonated such notable personalities as California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and fellow comedian Rodney Dangerfield.
