Chuck Wagon Gang rides into region

  • The long standing gospel group will perform a free concert in Norman Park.

NORMAN PARK — Southern Gospel music fans should head to Norman Park this weekend for a concert with the Chuck Wagon Gang.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center.

Admission is free, but a love offering will be accepted.

Saturday’s concert won’t be the Chuck Wagon Gang’s first performance in Southwest Georgia. Their last visit was last October when the group sang at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Moultrie.

“They are a super good group,” the concert’s organizer, Stanford Whitman, said in a recent telephone interview.”

Since the Chuck Wagon Gang was established in 1935, the gospel quartet has garnered numerous accolades. Its most recent being a nomination for the 2008 Diamond Awards Bluegrass Gospel Artist of the Year.

For more information, call Whitman at (229) 985-3375.
