Gnat Days goes out with twang

  • Camilla closes its annual homage to the gnat with a Western musical revue.

CAMILLA — Camilla’s six-month Gnat Days celebration concludes this week with its 6th annual “Grand Gnat Opry.”

Performances begin 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Mitchell County High School Theater.

Tickets are $15 each.

“Grant Gnat Opry” is a musical revue that features country and Western tunes from the 1960s and beyond.

“Over 1,000 folks attend our performances each year, said Camilla Chamber of Commerce Director Eric Brooks in a recent news release. “Our sixth year has to be the best yet.”

This year’s rendition features vocalists Jennifer Atkinson, Dennis Autrey, Amy Brooks, Eric Brooks, Stuart Brooks, Luci Conine, Joey Davis, Jani Edwards, Mary Beth Morris, Amy Shiver, Mark Shiver, Danny Singleton, Penny Watson and Alle Williamson.

Production dance team members include Melissa Cochran, Luci Conine, Rodney Conine, Paige Huey, Gail Moss, Holly Pollock, Kirk Pollock, Alicia Shirah, Paul Shirah, Ginna Waters, Katie Williams, Tim Williams and Christy Wray.
