Peanuts ready for another showdown

ALBANY —  Having just waved goodbye to the Macon Music in a showdown between the top two teams in the South Coast League, the South Georgia Peanuts will begin an encore performance tonight in a three-game series against the new second-place team, the Brandenton Juice.

With Bradenton’s 9-0 win against Aiken Saturday night, the Juice moved to within one game of first and hold sole possession of second place in the league.

The Juice are surging as they have won nine of their last 11 games.

This will be an introduction of sorts between the two squads, because of two rainouts in Florida, the two teams have only played one game against each other this year, a 9-4 Peanuts victory.

South Georgia is fresh off what first baseman Brandon Woolard deemed a “redemption week,” in which it avenged losing five of six the week before against Aiken and Macon to take two of three in each series.

The three-game set this week runs today through Wednesday with each game beginning at 7:10 p.m. at Paul Eames Park.
