Lady Eagles' Reagan set for Euro soccer trip

  • Sherwood Christian Academy soccer player Paige Reagan is headed to Europe to take part in the prestigious annual Holland Cup.

ALBANY — Paige Reagan not only is getting to play the field, she gets to see the sights.

The Sherwood Christian Academy soccer player, who also plays year-round for the Tallahassee (Fla.) United Futbol Club, is going to Holland on July 28 to participate in a prestigious international tournament called the Holland Cup .

“I’m really excited because I’ve never even been close to Holland,” Reagan said Reagan, who has played forward for Tallahassee United for three years, will be gone for two weeks along with players representing states such as Texas and Florida.

With a trip like this ahead of her, Reagan is looking forward to more than traveling to another country.

It’ll help me a lot,” said Reagan, who will joined by two or three of her Tallahassee teammates on the trip. “I’ll get to see how the other countries play. It will really be a good experience.”

The tournament will begin on Aug. 2 and last until Aug. 4, with 15 countries and several hundred teams being represented as Reagan and her American counterparts will be guaranteed to play a minimum of six games.

At Sherwood, Reagan said she was the team’s leading scorer with more than 20 goals and 10 assists. But in the present, she has her sights totally set on Holland.

We’ll get to go out and tour a couple of nights,” Reagan said, “but mostly it will be about soccer. We’ll also get to practice with the Holland National Team.”

Just being around the game is something Reagan looks forward to. Her father, Randy, has seen his daughter play in person often, and he is impressed with how she has grown as a player.

“It’s exciting to see how far she’s come,” he said. “I hardly miss a game. This will be a good opportunity for her to take advantage of this and play for an elite team.”

This won’t be Reagan’s first long trip to play soccer. Three years ago, she took part in the United States Club Soccer Associations’ National Cup in Raleigh, N.C.
