Peanuts return home after wild trip

  • The South Georgia Peanuts begin a three-game homestand today against the Bradenton Juice.

ALBANY – After a wild road trip in which the South Georgia Peanuts scratched, clawed, fought and forfeited their way to a 3-3 record, the club happily returns to Paul Eames Park today.

The Peanuts begin a three-game series against the Bradenton Juice in an abbreviated homestand. After the set, the team will travel to Charlotte County and Anderson for six consecutive road games.

After winning the South Coast League first-half title, the Peanuts have begun the second session of the season at 7-3. Today they will be facing the same Juice team it beat to clinch the championship less than two weeks ago.

Dumas Garcia will earn the start tonight for South Georgia. Jerome Gamble will take the mound Tuesday followed by Shannon Wirth on Wednesday.

They will be backed by an offensive attack currently being led by the white-hot bat of Doc Brooks. The cleanup hitter has hit four home runs in his last six games and leads the team in RBI.
