Peanuts set for first of final nine games of regular season today

ALBANY — The South Georgia Peanuts boarded a bus early this morning for Aiken, S.C., for the final time this season.

That’s because today’s series against the Foxhounds marks the final regular-season road trip the Peanuts will have to take as they embark on the final nine games of their second half, South Coast League schedule.

Following the three-game series against the Foxhounds — whom the Peanuts are 9-6 against overall this season and 4-2 on the road — South Georgia returns home for its six remaining games, beginning Thursday at Paul Eames Park with an all-important set with the first-place Macon Music. The Music overtook the Peanuts by a half game during the the two teams’ series that concluded Saturday. Should Macon hold on to win the second-half title, they will host the SCL Championship opener Aug. 30.
