COLLEGE NOTES: ASU volleyball loses at regionals; Rams basketball set for meet-and-greet with fans
For the ninth year in a row, Albany State goes to the NCAA Division II Regionals in Tampa, Fla., and comes home empty-handed.

The Albany State volleyball team didn't want to be one-and-done at the Regionals for a ninth consecutive year, but that's exactly what happened when the Lady Rams fell in straight sets Thursday to the host school.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Albany State volleyball team’s winless streak in the NCAA Division II reigonals was stretched to nine years Thursday after a consecutive-set loss against sixth-ranked Tampa, the host and No. 1 seed.
Coach Robert Skinner’s nine-time defending SIAC champion Lady Rams kept up with Tampa in the first set before losing, 25-21. Tampa won the other two sets by scores of 25-10 and 25-13. Sabrina Garcia and Bonnie Salary had five kills each for Albany State, and Priscila Sena had 12 assists.

The Albany State men’s basketball team will meet fans from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the HPER Gymnasium.
