Last Updated: 3:29 PM 07/22/10 - I have my suspicions when people who are fighting over the ownership of church property profess that they are really fighting about Christian principle and pure faith. My own take is that people are almost always fighting about the property, about tangible, physical assets: endowment funds, checking accounts, parking lots and sanctuaries.

Some congregations are reducing staff; the Crystal Cathedral (California) reported a 27 percent drop in revenue in 2009 and some surveys indicate lower levels of support on the part of many Americans.
