ALBANY – Westover athletic director and former football coach, Octavia Jones has now assumed the role of the interim head football coach, according to an announcement from Westover principal William Chunn.

It’s a role with which Jones is familiar. He led the Patriot football program for eight years from 2010-2017 and won Westover’s only football region championship in 2013.

“He will bring that stability to our program that we need at this time,” said Chunn. “Coach Jones has a great working relationship with the administration, faculty and staff, students, parents, and booster club. In his previous coaching tenure at Westover, he had several winning seasons, participated in several playoff games, hosted playoff games, and won the only regional football championship in Westover’s 55-year school history. I need him now and thank him for accepting the challenge. All of Westover is excited,” Chunn added.

The Westover job became open last week after Adam Miller resigned to take the head coaching position at Centennial High School in Roswell.
