Collett, Joiner shine in state tourney

Crawford Garnett Collett’s second-round surge helped him finish second.

Albany’s Crawford Garnett Collett finished second in the Georgia Junior Golf Tournaments’ 10-11 age division at Fort Gaines’ Meadow Links Golf Course.
After completing the first round with an 84, he rallied with four birdies during the first 5 holes to card a 77, which the lowest second-round score for his age group.
Three other Albany youths placed in the event. Jacob Joiner shot even par (74-70), placing first in 12-13. His brother, Tyler, was sixth in the same age group (78-85).
Walt Mathews placed fifth in the 14-15 age division with a two-day score of 156.
