Former WG&L attorney dies

Albany attorney Robert Langstaff Sr., longtime legal counsel for the Albany WG&L Commission, died of a massive heart attack this morning, city officials say.

Robert Langstaff Sr., former longtime legal counsel for the Albany WG&L Commission and father of Albany City Commissioner Robert Langstaff Jr., died this morning.

The death was noted this morning at the City Commission's work session. Reports at the commission meeting said Langstaff Sr. died of a massive heart attack.

Langstaff Sr., legal counsel for the Water, Gas & Light Commission from the 1970s until the 2000s, was one of the organizers of the Darton College Foundation in the early 1970s when the two-year college was still known as Albany Junior College. In 1995, he was named Friend of the College for his work on behalf of Darton.
