I remember back several years ago when Sherwood Baptist Church started filming their movie “Facing the Giants.” My wife and I sat in the stands and played part of the spectators and our son and daughter participated in the praying scene on the football field. We secretly hoped that this would one day happen to our football team as it did in the movie.
Well, it has!
Our Eagles have faced their Giants and have had the most successful football season in SCA history. The Giants have been numerous and at times it seemed that they would defeat us, but our kids never gave up. Even in the heartbreaking loss that ended our season, they were able to face it and overcome that Giant with the same spirit that they have shown all year.
Sherwood athletics has turned a corner. Two years ago, we had our first state champion. Last year, we had four state champions. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year holds for us!
Our kids are very special. They demonstrate the finest Christian principles in athletics, academics and in life. They have never given up and are truly “courageous.” Go Eagles!
