My son and I love to listen to jazz music; so, we went to the Sinatra Jr. concert with the ASU Jazz Ensemble on Tuesday.
Wow! In every way.
Good music, good singer and the best of all, what an orchestra — college students playing big time music. What a performance; “A+++” for all the students in that orchestra if I had to give the grades.
It was good to see so many students, many of them were high school students, came to listen to ‘40s jazz. Some with their grandparents and some with their friends, even a young couple with a 10-year- old. A black tie event was casual. I had to listen to the music with my eyes closed for a while due to some students on their cell phones constantly texting — light from the cell phones were just annoying, modern day concertgoers. I was guilty, too. I had to join that text club and answer my phone with a text message to my friends “Do not Disturb”— ha ha.
But this was a casual black tie event I enjoyed with my son before he goes to college next year. Thank you, ASU and all the concert sponsors, for bringing a beautiful evening and big-time music in a small, poor town. What a memorable event.
Looking at my son enjoying the concert was priceless!
