ALBANY – A deceased body was found this week by a citizen approximately four-tenths of a mile from Gillionville Road in a canal. After an autopsy was completed, the man was identified as Henry Lee Smith, who was reported missing by the Albany Police Department on May 8.

Autopsy results revealed no foul play was involved in his death; officials say it appeared he drowned.

The family was notified by Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler. Law enforcement agencies on this case included the Albany and Dougherty County police departments.
