ALBANY -- An autopsy was expected to be conducted after a deceased man was found Tuesday afternoon in a Lee County residence.
"Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies responded and found a deceased man in the bedroom of the house," said Trebor Randle, Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman. "There were no visible signs of injury. We have information of the man's possible drug use in the past."
The names of the people who reside in the home at 112 Hawkstead Drive and the deceased man, believed to be a guest, were not released by Tuesday night.
Plans call for the deceased man's body to be taken to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy, said Ronald Rowe, Lee County coroner.
The man's remains were still in the brick, single-story home at 112 Hawkstead drive at 5:30 p.m., he added.
The house had yellow crime-scene tape around the front yard. GBI crime scene technicians took pictures of the exterior of the home while investigators conferred in the front area of the home.
Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies had responded to the call around 2:30 p.m. and turned the investigation over to the GBI, as is procedure, a sheriff's office official said.
Neighbors who could be contacted Tuesday refused to talk to reporters.
