The worst of the weather is expected to hit the southwest part of the state around 6 a.m. Wednesday morning and move on out by mid to late afternoon, weather officials told emergency authorities during a conference call Tuesday afternoon.
Locally, officials in at least one area school district are watching the developments closely, they say, and will make a decision during the overnight hours on whether to keep facilities open Wednesday.
"It's something I've been watching and I know Dr. Whately has been watching," R.D. Harter, spokesperson for the Dougherty County School System said. "A decision likely won't come until the overnight hours though."
