ALBANY — Monroe head coach Marquis Davis officially has his brother’s number.

Davis’ Tornadoes beat Colquitt County Saturday, 54-46, the sixth straight time Monroe has beaten Colquitt, coached by Marquis’ older brother, Kirven Davis.

“It’s all in fun,” Marquis said of the win. “He’s trying to get his team better and we’re trying to get better also.”

Losing to his younger sibling, albeit without three starters, is getting old for Kirven, though.

“Of course,” he began, “if you’re a competitor, it’s going to do that.”

Monroe (4-0) beat the Packers (0-3) earlier this year in double overtime and with Saturday’s win, Marquis will have bragging rights for another year.
