AMERICUS -- Georgia Southwestern senior Chris Rawls was named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Rawls averaged 18.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in two tough losses for the Hurricanes last week.
He began with 12 points and 13 rebounds, nearly 40 percent of the team's total rebounds, in a loss at No. 3 Valdosta State. He returned with a career-high 24 points and 14 rebounds in an overtime loss to Truett-McConnell.
The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. native shot 70.1 percent (12-of-17) from the field and 67 percent from the line in the two games. He currently ranked sixth in the PBC in scoring (16.7 ppg), seventh in rebounding (7.8 rpg) and leads the PBC in minutes played (38.3 min. per game).
Rawls is GSW's third men's basketball player to receive the weekly honor since the Hurricanes joined the PBC in 2006.
Southwestern is back in action on Dec. 15 for rare a 1 p.m. against Carver.
