Albany police have arrested Carlos Mitchell, 24, at the crime scene on a murder charge for the slaying of Johnnie Williams, 58, in her home at 1513 Whiting Drive early today, an Albany Police Department official said.
Williams suffered multiple stab wounds, probably before midnight Monday, Phyllis Banks police spokeswoman said. After being taken to the hospital, Williams was pronounced dead, Banks said.
Mitchell was said to have known Williams, Banks said. He is charged with murder, aggravated assault, burglary and other crimes, she said.
