SEA ISLAND -- Heavy rain that left parts of the Sea Island Golf Club course completely unplayable back on Aug. 31 forced the temporary postponement of the Georgia PGA Section Championship as Albany golf pro Sonny Skinner led after one round.
And on Wednesday, Skinner went back and finished the deal.
Firing a one-under 71 during the second and final round, Skinner made a birdie on the first hole and stayed steady the rest of the way to capture his first Georgia PGA Championship title. Skinner, the 2008 PGA of America Player of the Year, took home the winner's check of $5,000.
The win was Skinner's third in the last three days, capturing a pairs title Tuesday in Jekyll Island and a Florida PGA club pro event last week in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
