Family increases reward for info

ALBANY -- An Albany woman's shooting death prompted her family to offer $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of her killer.

Gayle Jackson, 45, was found with a fatal gunshot wound about 5:30 a.m. Nov. 26 on the 300 block of McKinley Street next to a trash bin at the Whitney Food Mart, Albany Police Department reports stated. She died a short time later.

"We need closure as a family," Willie Jackson, her brother, said as he gathered with seven family members at the Law Enforcement Center Friday afternoon.

"The city needs closure. I or you could be standing next to the killer at Wal-Mart," Jackson said. "Someone has to have heard, know or saw something. We are just looking for information leading to arrest, we are not even worried about conviction."

The $1,000 offered by the family is in addition to a reward of up to $1,000 offered by Crime Stoppers, officials said. The money would be paid separately from separate bank accounts.

"We have leads, but no suspects," said Charlie Roberts, lead investigator. "We need someone to come forward with credible information."

Anyone with additional information should call the police at (229) 431-2100 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or (229) 431-3288. Calls can remain anonymous.
