LYONS -- Eight up, eight down.
That's the tale of the tape so far for the Terrell Academy boys basketball team this season, which closed out its 2009 schedule on Friday and Saturday with a pair of wins in the Robert Toombs Christmas Tournament to stay unbeaten on the young season. TAE won't play again until Jan. 5.
On Friday, the Eagles downed Edmund Burke Academy, 40-29, behind 13 points apiece from Jonathan Farr and Clay Willis.
"That was probably our toughest game of the year so far," Eagles coach Rundy Foster said. "They had a big kid who was 6-foot-5 and he gave us some trouble down low. But both (Farr) and Nick Beaver did their best to hold him down so we could get the win."
Then on Saturday, the Eagles moved to 8-0 with a 52-30 thrashing of Thomas Jefferson -- the same team Terrell beat in the Class AAA state title game in football last month.
Levi Griffin scored 16, while Beaver and Caleb White both added 12 in the win.
BROOKWOOD GIRLS 60, SHERWOOD 41:
Princess Williams scored 9 points, while Maggie O'Connor and Emilee Cook each added 7 for the Lady Eagles (4-5) in the loss.
Brookwood's Lauren Johnson, meanwhile, led all scorers with 25 points.
SCA doesn't play again until Jan. 5.
