Liberty House of Albany is requesting assistance for its 5th annual Adopt-a-Family program.
Participants will be asked to buy at least three gifts per child for families served by the domestic violence shelter.
According to Liberty House Executive Director Silke Deeley, the facility has sheltered 58 women and 63 children in 2009.
"Advocates in our outreach program are working with as many as 400 families throughout the year," she stated. "The potential need this Christmas is great and it is the hope of the Liberty House Board of Directors and staff that the communities we serve will once again help to assure that all families served by our agency have the kind of Christmas that so many of us take for granted."
In addition to purchasing gifts, Southwest Georgians can provide food, Christmas decorations or monetary donations.
The last date to adopt a family is Dec. 11. Deadline to purchase gifts is Dec. 18.
