ALBANY -- The Sherwood Christian Academy Fine Arts Department will present the musical production "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" this week.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Darton College Theater. A matinee performance is also scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.
Admission is $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets are available at both Sherwood Christian Academy campuses and at the church.
Based on the MGM movie of the same name and the book "The Sobbin' Women" by Stephen Vincent Benet, the play is set in 1850s Oregon and tells the story of young bride Millie, who wants to get her six rowdy brothers-in-law married to make sure her own marriage is successful. But her plan goes awry when the enthusiastic guys kidnap six women from a nearby town.
"Goin' courting has never been as much fun as in this rip-roaring stage version of the popular MGM movie, adapted by Lawrence Kasha and David Landay," states a news release.
