'Twelve Angry Men' to storm into Americus

AMERICUS -- The Sumter Players/Georgia Southwestern University Dramatic Arts will present Reginald Rose's "Twelve Angry Men" this week.

Performances begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Rylander Theater in Americus. A matinee performance is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, students and Habitat volunteers. Students in grades 8-12 with identification, as well as equivalent home-schooled students, are admitted free.

Directed by Chris Barr, the production tells the story of a 19-year-old who has just stood trial, in what appears to be an open and shut case, for fatally stabbing his father. Then one juror asks his peers to see all the facts.

"The debate becomes personal, with each juror revealing his or her own character as the evidence is re-examined, the murder is re-enancted and a new murder threat is born," states a news release.

The production stars Lisa Montrose, Robert Hughey, Mario Pagan, David Finley, Will Dozier, Sidney Davis, Jonathan Minich, Christi Barr, Ron Fross, Patrick Peacock, Marc Weathersby, Camille Whitakker and Jordan Walker.
