The popular gossip Web site, TMZ.com, reported late Saturday night a different version of the events that led to golf superstar Tiger Woods' car accident near his Florida home early Friday morning.
According to TMZ, Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, changed her story about the series of incidents surrounding the crash, telling the first officer on the scene from the Windermere (Fla.) Police Department that she had heard the accident and rushed outside to free Woods from the car by smashing the window of his Cadillac SUV with one of his golf clubs. But according to TMZ, a source told the Web site that Nordegren later changed that story, telling the Florida Highway Patrol that she confronted Woods about a recently published article in the National Enquirer detailing an alleged affair by Woods with a woman named Rachel Uchitel, who has denied the affair to several media outlets.
According to the Web site, after Nordegren scratched Woods' face, he then "left the house, started driving off and his wife then came out with a golf club, striking the vehicle. Tiger then became distracted and hit the hydrant and then a nearby tree."
TMZ cites the information as coming from a friend of Woods, who was not identified.
