SMITHVILLE -- Southwest Georgians just might get pie-eyed this weekend as the Smithville Recreation Club presents its Smithville Chicken Pie Festival Saturday.
The event will be held 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in downtown Smithville near the gazebo.
The day will include a 5K run at 7:30 a.m., 10.2K sanctioned run at 8 a.m., 1-mile fun run at 8:15 a.m.
Once the runs are complete, a 10 a.m. parade will usher in additional activities. Among them will be a pet parade at 1:30 p.m. and a children's costume contest at 2 p.m.
In addition, participants are encouraged to bring homemade chicken pie, which will be judged at 11:30 a.m.
"You will find all kinds of craft and food vendors, as well as a variety of entertainment, for your enjoyment," states a news release.
