ALBANY, Ga. -- Two people suffered injuries after a driver of a Ford Explorer struck a train car early Saturday morning, police said.
According to Phyllis Banks, spokesperson for the Albany Police Department, Gregorio Suarez Andrade, 40, was traveling north on Washington Street in a 2003 Ford Expedition with his passenger Anabel Beltran Andrade, 33, when he struck a train car.
The accident happened around 3 a.m. Saturday and Andrade struck the 34th train car in a row 44 cars that was stationary on the tracks near Washington Street.
The Ford Expedition suffered extensive front end damage from striking the train car and both of the SUV's occupants sustained injuries and were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment. The Andrades were listed in good condition Monday afternoon, said hospital officials.
Banks said that no charges have been filed at this time, but police are still investigating how the accident happened.
