ALBANY, Ga. -- Three burglars found their work interrupted and six others were rounded up with stolen goods at two addresses in the city, an Albany Police Department report stated.
Police responded to a report of a burglary on the 1900 block of Greenvale Street at 10 a.m. Thursday, said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. Once there, police found an adult and two juveniles in the home, she added.
"Officers surrounded the home and at some point the suspects began breaking windows in an attempt to escape," Banks said. "Two of the suspects were able to get out, but were taken into custody after a very brief foot chase. Officers arrested the second juvenile after they gained entry into the home."
The adult, Dextra Carter, 18, is in Dougherty County Jail charged with burglary and a probation violation with no bail, a jail spokeswoman said.
The two juveniles' names were not released and they were placed in the Regional Youth Detention Center, Banks said.
In another operation a little later than the above, police executed a search warrant at 1309 East Society Ave. and confiscated cocaine, marijuana, stolen electronics, power tools and other items, said Terrance Bryant, police investigator.
The police were questioning six people in connection with the stolen goods, Banks said. No other details on the investigation were immediately available, she added.
"I would like to thank citizens for the information," Bryant said. "Without their input we would not have been successful."
Officers asked that anyone who has had goods stolen including televisions and lawn maintenance equipment call them. The best way for victims to identify their goods is by bringing recorded serial numbers in to the Law Enforcement Center on Oglethorpe Boulevard, officers said.
