ATHENS -- The Georgia football team held its 13th -- and final -- spring practice in wet and rainy conditions Thursday.
But even Mother Nature did little to dampen the spirit heading into today's annual G-Day game at Sanford Stadium.
The team had almost completed a full practice before being halted by thunder and lightning, although head coach Mark Richt was happy with what he called the "energy and enthusiasm" of practice, especially the play of the defense
"The defense is gaining more confidence in what they are doing and everything is starting to solidify," Richt said. "Mistakes being made are happening less and less."
Richt said he is excited about G-Day since it will be in front of the diehard Bulldogs fans.
"The weather (today) is going to be beautiful, and we would really like the fans to come out and enjoy the game," said Richt, who added he hoped fans would once again bring canned goods to the game as part of Georgia's annual food drive. "Last year we broke a record for the amount of food that was donated at one single event, so it would be nice to break that record again."
The game will kick off at 2:05 p.m, though at noon, former football letter winners will be playing in a flag football game. The gates will open at 11:30 a.m.
